Royals' New Downtown Ballpark Coming to Crown Center

The Kansas City Royals announced a deal with Hallmark Cards to build a new ballpark at Crown Center, just north of the Plaza along the Main Street streetcar line. Groundbreaking is expected in 2027 with a target opening for the 2030 season — bringing Major League Baseball downtown for the first time in 50 years. Together with the new Symphony venue at 49th & Main, the move anchors a major Plaza-to-downtown corridor revival.
